Capital Improvement Projects at Salmon River Central School District

C&S served as the construction manager for Salmon River Central School District’s Capital Improvement Projects—Phases 4, 5, and 6.

Phase 4: $26 million (2018-2022)
This project was necessary to address asbestos concerns, update finishes, upgrade elevators, replace aging HVAC equipment, electrical panels, asphalt paving and site drainage, and repair practice field turf. Renovated spaces included classrooms, corridors, bathrooms, administrative offices, and the high school library.

Improvements included new ceilings, casework, doors, ceramic tile in the pool, and metal siding at the maintenance garage. HVAC upgrades included chilled beams, cabinet unit heaters, and fin tube radiation. Electrical upgrades involved new panels, LED light fixtures, and additional data in classrooms and offices. The project also included a new exterior wall assembly with aluminum windows and insulated core metal panels. Athletic improvements included an irrigation system at the softball field, new sidewalks, steps, bleachers at the running track, and field lighting for baseball and future turf fields.

Phase 5: $7.4 million (2021-2023)
This project included upgrades to the running track, softball field, practice fields, tennis and basketball courts, and provided new ADA-accessible bathrooms, outdoor fitness equipment, a multi-use turf field, and an athletic storage building.

Improvements at the running track included resurfacing, lines, long jumps, a steeplechase pit, sod, flag poles with lighting, chain link fencing, and a 20’ x 40’ storage building. Upgrades at the softball field and courts included a new infield, a basketball court, two tennis courts, a 12’ high fence, and a resealed and line-striped parking lot. At the new turf field, upgrades included a Type A artificial turf field striped for lacrosse, soccer, and football, goal posts, safety netting, portable shelters and press box, a 25’ scoreboard, bleachers, a 37-space parking lot, chain link fencing, and a fiber optic network cable. Along the half-mile nature trail, fitness equipment was installed, including assisted row and push-up, plyometrics and Tai Chi wheels, ab crunch and leg lift, parallel bars, hand cycler, pull-up and dip, chest and back press, and an angled balance beam. A new practice field was built adjacent to the trail.

Phase 6: $5.2 million (2022-2024)
This project addressed asbestos concerns, updated finishes, main entrance hardscape and canopy, and replaced aging HVAC equipment, network/data backbone, asphalt paving, and sidewalks. Renovated spaces included corridors, stairs, vestibule storefront systems, corridor doors, and locker room doors.

Improvements included upgrades to fire alarm and building management systems, resurfacing parking lots, two rooftop units, a heat pump, ceiling unit heaters, fin tube radiation, and LED light fixtures. The project also included a new exterior wall assembly with aluminum windows and color-shifting insulated core metal panels. Additional installations included three IT offices, two admin offices, eight EV car charging stations, two EV bus charging stations, a salt storage shed, and a digital video display sign.

Due to the success of these projects, the district is continuing to work with C&S on Phase 7.
