Mentholatum Building Redevelopment
We assisted Ciminelli Real Estate Corporation (CREC) with the acquisition and redevelopment of the Mentholatum building, which was constructed in 1919 and used for the manufacture of menthol-based health and beauty products. The four-story, 80,000-square-foot factory was purchased by CREC in 2016 in response to the City of Buffalo’s initiative to improve the Niagara Street corridor. The redevelopment of the Mentholatum building has played a significant role in advancing the City’s vision for the revitalization of that portion of the community. We worked with CREC to develop a plan to remediate the property to facilitate mixed re-use, including 49 market-rate apartments, street level retail, outdoor patios and recreation space, and picturesque views. Lower-level and surface parking areas were developed.
