Village of Gowanda Brownfield Opportunity Area Project
We led the Village of Gowanda pre-nomination study as part of the New York State Department of State Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) Program, in 2016. This study was awarded the 2017 Outstanding Planning Award for Comprehensive Planning by the American Planning Association New York Upstate Chapter, Western New York Section.
During this study, we collaborated with municipal leaders, community members, and stakeholders to establish a community vision for long-term redevelopment goals and objectives. We also categorized and inventoried the Village of Gowanda to define existing conditions and strategically plan the Village’s capacity for remediating and redeveloping brownfield and underutilized sites that currently act as a blight to the community.
