New Laundry Facility
Unifirst Corporation, a company who provides industrial laundry services, was experiencing operational constraints resulting from their facility being too small and outdated for their expanding needs. C&S was the general contractor for construction of the new facility, also providing process equipment design and installation. C&S assisted Unifirst with a two phase project to build a new laundry facility. The first phase was completed in March 2022.
The first phase consisted of creating a new 34,000 square foot facility. The new building included concrete filled pipe piles with pile caps and grade beam foundations. The building now has 1,500 CY (cubic yards) of structural reinforced slab system, that varies from 10″ to 12″ in thickness. Conventional steel framing with insulated metal panels, and EPDM roof system were utilized in this project.
The electrical, mechanical and millwright work was self-performed by C&S personnel. The self-performed process included inspection of piping and electrical connections for the laundry equipment, and reviewing water treatment before it enters the public sanitary system. The remaining site work consisted of finishing sidewalks, aprons, paving, and setting up the industrial washers and dryers.
The second phase consists of demolition of the existing building, and is expected to be complete in March 2023.
